So, David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”

And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” 1 Samuel 30:8

Let us give thanks to the Lord for seeing us through the ups and downs of this year 2021. To God alone be the glory, honor, and adoration in Jesus’ name. God’s word to us in October 2021 was Divine Blessings, this month God’s charge to us is to “pursue, overtake and recover all.”
So, David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” 1 Samuel 30:8

When David was faced with difficulties, David prayed to the Lord by inquiring of Him for what to do. David sought the guidance and the direction of God in his difficult times. David at this time of his life, had been anointed to be king still he was a fugitive. He needed God’s guidance. Beloved, we need divine guidance too. We need guidance to learn what is right (Psalm 25:5), to know what direction and procedure is right (Ps. 27:11), to know the will of God and obey it (Psalm 143:10).

God told David to pursue, to go forward and get into the battle. We are reminded of a great truth here. If you have gotten away from the Lord and fallen into sin, get right with God, get up, go forward, and get into the battle. If your life is in the ruins, go forward and get into the battle.

God promised David that he will recover everything. The Lord can revive you from your ruins too. He can restore your joy from despair or disobedience if you will turn to Him. Joel 2:25 said, “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.”

No matter the difficulty you find yourself, the Lord can revive you from the ruins. God has also given us in His Word great promises to claim to revive our hearts and our joy. The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 1:20, “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

2 Peter 1:4. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. In our lives, we face obstacles and difficulties on the path of obedience. It is the Lord who helps us to overcome them.

Promises from the Lord we can hold on to!

  1. Deliverance out of prials. Psalm 34:19
  2. His Presence in our Problems. Isaiah 43:2
  3. All Things work together for good. Romans 8:28
  4. Answers to our prayers. Mark 11:24
  5. Eternal life for faith in Christ. John 3:15

Jesus Christ is our source of strength, He gives us power to pursue, to overtake and recover all. Therefore, if you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, ask Him to come into your life and forgive all your sins. Ask Him to give you strength to overcome your present difficulties. Cast all your worries upon Him for He cares for you.

PRAYER : And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in (Isaiah 58:11-12).

Welcome to November 2021, the month with an assurance to pursue, overtake and recover all in Jesus’ name.

Yours in Him,
Pastor Lillian Haastrup.
