Divine Help: Our Ever-Present Aid
Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name’s sake! Psalm 79:9
To God Almighty be the glory for counting us worthy to be among the living today. The year 2025 carries so many names:  the year of Onward Christian Soldier, the year of Multiple Grace, and per Pastor E. A. Adeboye, the GO of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the Landmark Year. I believe that this year has a lot of blessings for God’s children.
Our theme for February 2025 is Divine Help.
This theme is both comforting and empowering: the Divine Help that our Almighty God provides is unquantifiable. In our lives, we often face trials and tribulations that challenge our strength and resolve. It is during these times that we realize the profound need for divine intervention. Today, I want to remind you of the steadfast and unfailing help that God offers to His children.
1. The Nature of Divine Help:
Our God is not a distant, unapproachable deity. He is a loving Father who is intimately involved in our lives. The Psalmist declares, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. ” (Psalm 46:1, NKJV). This verse reassures us that God’s help is constant and reliable. He is always there, ready to support us in our times of need.
2. Seeking God’s Help:
But how do we seek this divine help? Jesus teaches us to ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7-8, NKJV). We must approach God in prayer, with faith and humility, trusting that He will hear our pleas. As the Apostle Paul writes, ” 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, NKJV).
3. Experiencing Divine Deliverance:
Throughout the Bible, we see countless examples of God delivering His people from dire circumstances. Consider the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. Faced with the insurmountable obstacle of the Red Sea, Moses turned to God for help. In response, the sea was parted, and the Israelites walked to freedom on dry ground, (Exodus 14).  This powerful narrative illustrates that when we place our trust in Divine help, even the most formidable challenges can be overcome.   God’s intervention was unmistakable with  Daniel in the lion’s den, (Daniel 6). The Lord’s deliverance showcases His power and love. “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. ” (Psalm 34:17, NKJV).
4. The Purpose of Divine Help:
God’s help is not just for our benefit. It also serves to glorify His holy name. When we experience divine help, it becomes a testament to God’s faithfulness and power. As we read in Psalm 79:9, “Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name’s sake! ” (NKJV). Our testimonies of deliverance can inspire others to seek the Lord and strengthen their faith.
5. Living in the Assurance of Divine Help:
As believers, we must live with the assurance that God’s help is always available to us. This assurance should bring peace to our hearts and minds. Remember the words of Jesus: “And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” (Matthew 28:20, NKJV). With this promise, we can face any challenge, knowing that we are never alone.
In our daily lives, Divine help can manifest in various ways. It may come through the kindness of others, the guidance of a mentor, or the inner strength to persevere through difficult times. It is essential to remain open and attuned to these moments of grace, recognizing them as gifts from God.
As we navigate the complexities of life, let us remember to seek Divine help with humility and faith. Prayer, meditation, and reflection can deepen our connection to the Lord Jesus Christ and open our hearts to receive the needed support. In doing so, we find the strength to face our challenges, the wisdom to make sound decisions, and the courage to pursue our dreams.
In conclusion, let us hold fast to the truth that our God is a present help in times of trouble. Let us seek His guidance through prayer, trust in His deliverance, and live in a way that glorifies His name. May our lives be a testament to the divine help that sustains us and gives us hope.
