The Resurrection Power
“that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,” Philippians 3:10
Beloved, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we will celebrate the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ this month. There is a need to reflect on the power of resurrection. We thank God for the power that works in us and through us to declare the glory of the Lord.
The resurrection power is the life-giving, transformative power of God that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. It is the same power that works in the lives of believers, offering spiritual renewal, victory over sin, and the promise of eternal life. The resurrection power is central to the Christian faith as it demonstrates God’s authority over death, sin, and all forces of darkness.  This power is not just a historical event but a present reality for believers, offering hope, transformation, and strength.
Some of the significance, application, and biblical foundation of the resurrection power are explored below:
1. The Power That Raised Jesus from the Dead
The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate demonstration of God’s power. It signifies His victory over death and proves that He is sovereign over all creation. The Bible says, “But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because death couldn’t keep its hold on him” (Acts 2:24). Through the resurrection, Jesus fulfilled God’s promise of redemption and made a way for humanity to be reconciled to God (Romans 4:25).
2. The Resurrection Power in Believers
The same power that raised Jesus from the grave is available to all who believe in Him, empowering them to live victorious, transformed lives. This power brings spiritual renewal, enabling believers to overcome sin and walk in the freedom of God’s grace, “The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you. He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you” (Romans 8:11).
3. Victory Over Sin and Death
Through the resurrection power, believers are no longer bound by sin or the fear of death. Christ’s resurrection ensures eternal life and victory for those who follow Him. The resurrection power breaks the chains of sin, giving believers the strength to resist temptation and live holy lives. According to 1 Corinthians 15:54-55, “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:54-55).
4. A New Life in Christ
The resurrection power transforms believers into new creations, with old ways of living replaced by a life led by the Holy Spirit. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). This transformation reflects the power of Christ’s resurrection working within believers, enabling them to reflect God’s love and character.
5. Hope and Assurance of Eternal Life
The resurrection power gives believers a living hope and assurance of eternal life. Christ’s resurrection is the first fruits of the future resurrection promised to all who trust in Him. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3). Just as Jesus rose from the dead, so will believers be raised to eternal life, free from pain and death (John 11:25-26).
6. Boldness and Empowerment for Ministry
The resurrection power emboldens believers to proclaim the gospel and fulfill their God-given purpose. It is through this power that they are equipped to face challenges and serve others. This power strengthens believers to stand firm in their faith and to spread the message of Christ’s love, just as the power worked with the Apostles in the early Church, “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all” (Acts 4:33).
7. Resurrection Power and the Holy Spirit
The resurrection power operates through the Holy Spirit, who dwells in every believer. The Spirit provides guidance, strength, and renewal, making the reality of Christ’s resurrection evident in daily life. Apostle Paul expresses his desire to experience the resurrection power in his own life in Philippians 3:10, highlighting its transformative nature: “that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.” This should be the prayer of every believer. Apostle Paul prayed for the Christians at Ephesians as follows: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which he has called you… and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead” (Ephesians 1:18-20).
The resurrection power is the cornerstone of Christian hope. It is a dynamic force that transforms lives, empowers believers, and offers the assurance of eternal life. By embracing this power, Christians live as evidence of God’s victory and power over sin and death, proclaiming the truth and hope of the gospel to the world.
PRAYERS

2. Prayer for Victory Over Sin:    Lord, through Your resurrection power, You have defeated sin and death. Help us to walk in Your victory, resist temptation, and live holy lives that glorify You. “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).
3. Prayer for Spiritual Renewal:  Father God, I ask for Your resurrection power to renew my spirit and transform my life. Just as You brought Jesus to life, bring fresh strength and vitality to my faith. “The Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you” (Romans 8:11).
4. Prayer for Hope in Eternal Life:  Lord Jesus, thank You for the living hope You have given us through Your resurrection. 5. Prayer for Boldness in Proclaiming the Resurrection:  Father, fill me with boldness and courage to proclaim the truth of Christ’s resurrection. “With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 4:33).
6. Prayer for Strength in Times of Trials:  Lord, in times of trials and struggles, remind me of the living hope that comes through Your resurrection. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).
7. Prayer to Walk in Resurrection Power Daily: Father, help me to walk daily in the resurrection power that You have given to all believers. Let this power guide my thoughts, actions, and decisions, leading me to live a life of victory, joy, and purpose in You. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
In essence, the resurrection power is not just a past event but a present reality that empowers believers to live a life of victory, transformation, and hope in Christ. It is a testament to God’s love and the ultimate triumph over sin and death. So, as many as believed in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ to them he gave power to become sons and daughters of God.
May the resurrection power that raised our Lord Jesus Christ from death quicken your mortal body and grant you victory in all your undertakings in Jesus’ mighty name.
Welcome to April 2025, the month of the Resurrection Power.
Yours in the Lord,
Pastor Lillian haastrup
