TEXT: Psalms 126:1-6
When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
PREAMBLE: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:3.
Just as we long to see our loved ones who have been away, we should long to see the Lord Jesus face-to-face with a far deeper longing. This is the comforting, cleansing, and compelling hope of Christians in this dark, depraved, and destructive world. Anticipation of the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ gives hope to every believer. Titus 2:11-15. The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. I Thessalonians 4:16 We patiently wait for the trumpet of the Lord to sound. What a wonderful sound! What a wonderful day! If we listen carefully, we can hear it in the near future by faith.
Our prayer should be like that of the apostle John, “He who testifies to these things says, ’Surely I am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Rev. 22:20).
