Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10

We give glory and honor to the Lord for year 2020, God has kept us alive and in good health. May His name continually be praised among us in Jesus name.

As we continue to live a holy life unto the Lord, this eleventh month of year 2020 we are encouraged to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Be strong in the Lord because He is our source of strength. Our strength is not found in material things or money, popularity, intelligence, scheming, deception, or reasoning. It is found in the Lord. David said in Psalm 28:7, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped: therefore, my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will I praise him.”

You and I need strength for the battles of life. Problems can drain us. Some may say, “I’m a Christian and I don’t have any battles at all.” Not always, but many times some Christians have no battles because they have retreated from the front lines of serving Christ. If you live for God, Satan will do what he can to keep you from becoming an effective soldier for Christ. Paul told us in 1 Thessalonians 2:18 that he would have returned to the Thessalonians, but he was hindered by Satan.

You and I need to clearly understand that Satan desires to hinder us in our Christian growth and service for Christ. We tend to be so easily distracted from serving our Savior by obstacles in our lives. We as a people are distracted by being busy with our activities, and by the burdens of the affairs of this life.

Mankind is distracted from God’s glory by disappointments of different sorts, sins, battles, temptations, and trials. These things are used by Satan to turn the heart from God. Samson was distracted from being fulfilled by being careless and following after Philistine women.

At the end of Jesus’ ministry, He sweated great drops of blood in Gethsemane. The stress was intense. Job faced fierce battles, even though he was a godly man. Satan does not give up. He is persistent and determined to defeat you. We have a problem with Satan. He is out to destroy us, shut us up, and silence our prayers. We are warned in 1 Peter 5:8—Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

How to Be Strong in the Lord

1. God will Strengthen You if You Will Rely Upon Him for Strength-2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Philippians 4:13—I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

2. Wait for the Lord to Strengthen You- Isaiah 40:31, Proverbs 3:5-6
We exchange our weakness for God’s strength and power when we wait upon Him. He changes us by reviving our hearts and giving us courage, determination, confidence in Him, and a burden for the lost.

3. The Work of the Holy Spirit in Us Gives Strength – Ephesians 3:16, Zechariah 4:6b.
The Holy Spirit changes us into workers and warriors for Jesus Christ. He gives us the burden for our family and friends that need the Lord.

4. The Wonder of God’s Grace Needs to be Allowed and Accepted by Us-2 Timothy 2:1
His grace gives us the power, ability, and the desire to do God’s will. We need to accept His grace in us
5. Be Strong and of good Courage- Joshua 1:9- Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord, thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

6. Have Faith in God- Romans 4:20- Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.

7. Submit yourself to God- James 4:7-10-At this critical time in the history of the world we need to draw closer to the Lord and be strengthened. Victory comes from surrendering to the Lord and getting under His authority and doing His will.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil-Ephesians 6:10-11.

If you have not received the Lord Jesus Christ into your life, you cannot ask Him to strengthen you; until you ask Him to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior.
Pray and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and cleanse you with the blood of Jesus. Ask Him to come and abode in your heart and promise to live for Him henceforth for the rest of your life. If you prayed that prayer, welcome to the family of God.

Welcome to the month of November 2020.
May the Lord strengthen you in the spirit of the inner man and perfect His work in your life in Jesus name.

Yours in the Lord,
Pastor Lillian Haastrup.
