Let There be Light

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light, Genesis 1:3

These were the first words and command spoken by God at creation. The light obeyed God and there was light. This became God’s first creation. We need the light of God to guide us through and illuminate our paths this year 2018 and for the rest of our lives, without this light we will be in Spiritual darkness.

David said, “Lord, you are my lamp; the Lord illuminates my darkness,” 2 Samuel 22:29.

A lamp gives just enough light to take the next step. This year, God wants us to walk with Him daily. He gives direction one day at a time and when it is needed by us. It is important, therefore, that we should not miss God’s directions and leadings. Spend time with the Lord every day. It was God’s direction and provision that enabled David to accomplish difficult tasks and obstacles and was able to say “For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. 2 Samuel 22:30

In Psalm 27:1, David confessed “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom should I be afraid?” David wastes no time at all in focusing his attention on the Lord. In the face of fear and difficulties, David is focused on the Lord and we ought to do likewise. He says, “He is my Light!” This is the only place in the Old Testament where the Lord is called “Light.”

In John 8:12, Jesus said that He was the Light of the world.

Then spake Jesus unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followed me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. For it is God who commanded light to shine over our darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

To overcome the obstacles in year 2018, be it fear,or sinful habits,or discouragement, or depression, or worry, or hate, or anger, or bitterness, or jealousy, or pride,or lust, or covetousness,or guilt, or health or financial problems, be sure to do the following five key things:

Trust and depend upon the Lord-Proverbs 3:5-6
Call upon the Lord for strength and provision- Philippians 4: 13, 19
Lean upon and rest in Him- Matthew 11: 28-30
Have Godly integrity and purity- Romans 12:1-2
Spend time getting God’s direction daily- Psalm 32:8

This year 2018, as the Lord lives, y our sun shall never set; neither will your moon go down, for the Lord will be your everlasting light; your days of mourning all will end in Jesus Name- Isaiah 60:20

Welcome to January 2018 for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

Yours in Him,
